HEAVY MEAL, S.O.S.
In resuscitation for choking, the Heimlich maneuver should never be performed on an infant under one year old. Instead, the infant should be placed prone, with the head slightly lower than the body to deliver 5 back blows between the shoulder blades, and then turned supine for another five chest compressions. This process should be repeated until normal breathing is restored.
For people over one year old, the adult technique should be used, applying measured and appropriate force without hesitation.
