In general, autocrats and «bosses» share traits that distort their personalities. The so-called «Dark Triad» (psychopathy, narcissism, and machiavellianism) is quite common, associated with unrestrained antisocial behavior, where progressive egocentrism, cunning, tenacity, meticulousness, selectivity, manipulation, secrecy, and the power of seduction steer their wicked course.
I’ll mention a case close to home:
The pathetic attitude of a cunning leader before his capitulation is troubling to both observers and those who suffer under it. Nothing but delusion could lead him to cling to a fabricated reality. Pathological? I don’t know, but it crosses the line of reason.
