Caught in this predicament, I think an ordinary citizen would also believe that the main quality of a good politician should be prudence in their decisions, even if it means gritting their teeth to avoid greater evils. Setting aside arrogance, theatrical sentimentality, ideology, courage, self-serving or pathological self-interest, and many other factors should be mandatory within the context of their responsibility.
