WE REACHED THE FINISH LINE?

Cattle thieves make off easily at a gallop with their loot

The world goes its own way and drags us along, whether we sleep or stay awake. Time enslaves us—to a greater or lesser degree—and never waits for us to enjoy what truly matters. Moreover, exercising free will, we often lose sight of the essentials; we prefer the secondary things—the «disposable» distractions—with a kind of feverish zeal.

We must fight against this!

Where is love to be found?

That everyday love—

the kind that used to last a thousand years—

is hard to come by;

it is merely recalled via hard drive.

Humanity moves forward,

yet there are differing views

on how to advance;

should we abandon collective action?

Each follows their own pace, and

contradiction arises;

the pace of activity quickens…

We all ride together—

or rather, at the rhythm of the thieves, driven by their boss;

all of us, tongues lolling, hearts

exposed and vulnerable.

They demand greater heights and faster action from us…

«Attention: aim higher, for God’s sake! Faster, please!»

Fatigue mounts—making it harder to love well;

it is a kind of cardiac insufficiency.

Will we reach love? That everyday love?

It remains a mystery; there is no way to grasp it with our hands.

Let us move forward together; let us find the open road!

Do they speak as if they know, while conversing in their own way?

It is a curious notion to claim we are moving forward together,

while displaying indifference and heading in different directions.

Much remains to be done. We want to do it together…

But what does it take for us to get along better than yesterday?

It seems a mystery that we advance a cappella,

singing indifferent verses while traveling different paths. We are rushed at every turn,

And if we move so close together, won’t our heartbeats sync?

Might a sigh escape?

There is much to do, and the mystery will endure;

Do you want us to move forward together, at the mercy of outlaws?

Put it to a vote!
