LET,S TALK ABOUT PEDIATRICS

Breastfeeding is a platinum option, to feed your babies, although, it is true, there are some contraindications.
On the part of the mother, if there are anatomical abnormalities of the nipple, induction should be attempted, through the use of liners; the appearance of cracks, could be prevented and, mastitis, require the use of antibiotics, so, during the treatment, we must resort to infant formula, although, after the cure, we should try, again, the mammary stimulation of the suction of the baby, with enough possibility that it reappears an optimal glandular secretion; to this, it is called, relactation. The hypogalactia, that is to say, the scarce milk production, for various reasons and, the agalactia, or the irreversible absence of the rise of the milk, do make it necessary, to use an artificial substitute diet. The use of drugs, to increase milk production (Sulpiride), is not recommended, at least from my point of view.
The baby can also present anomalies, anatomical and / or functional that block the act of suction, as occurs with certain neurological disorders and congenital anomalies in the mouth, palate and pharynx, which cause alteration of swallowing; The best known, cleft lip, cleft palate, among others, require a rapid surgical correction.
Whenever possible, exclusive breastfeeding is recommended, until five or six months of age, in which complementary feeding should be associated, very gradually, although breast milk should be a basic food until the age of one year. .
There are solid biological and psycho-social arguments that show that breastfeeding is beneficial for the baby, for the mother and for society.
